[edit]

Hi; I stumbled across the now red link to this file as it was mentioned earlier on my talk page. You speedily deleted in it January as F10; did you notice that there was a deletion discussion in September at Commons:Deletion requests/File:Little mermaid on tinder.png where Mdaniels5757 decided to keep the image? Gestumblindi (talk) 21:10, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

No, it was a bulk deletion of all of that user's uploads. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 00:29, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I don't think it's a terribly important picture; procedurally, a speedy deletion of a previously formally kept image is a bit questionable, but I'll leave it to Mdaniels5757 to decide whether they think it's worth undeleting or not. Gestumblindi (talk) 19:51, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This kind of thing can happen occasionally when you're using VisualFileChange, because you don't see each file individually, you see them all as a grid with metadata. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 21:25, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Gestumblindi I just took a look at this, thanks for pinging. The DR only considered copyright. On second look, I agree that the image is out of COM:SCOPE (although I'm not sure if it's "personal" within the meaning of F10, and therefore probably wouldn't have intentionally speedily deleted it). Procedurally, although "if a page has survived a prior deletion discussion, it should not be speedy deleted except for newly discovered copyright violations." (COM:CSD), it's not clear to me that it needs to be undeleted to start a new deletion discussion if no one thinks it's actually in scope. But if you think there's any ambiguity, feel free to undelete and send it to DR (although I'd appreciate a ping if you do so). And, to be clear, I do not blame The Squirrel Conspiracy one bit for not noticing the old discussion: VFC just doesn't show that sort of information. 2nd request.

[edit]

You didn't respond to my March 20th request here- User talk:The Squirrel Conspiracy/2020#Re-pixelate, please.

Here at File:Ambassador Jack Lew Speaks at the 100 Days Memorial for hostages at Hostage Square in Tel Aviv, Israel on January 13, 2024 - 6.jpg you helped to save an image from deletion. Thanks for that help.

Your DR closing statement was "Posters have been pixelated. Not 100% convinced this is in scope though."

I request that you pixilate the original photo, but do not pixelate the English text on the posters. This would impart more information, while the text is below COM:TOO. Also, this would greatly improve any concerns about COM:SCOPE of the United States Embassy photo. I will be learn how to use GIMP to pixelate photos in the near future. Thank you in advance for your help. -- Ooligan (talk) 23:22, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You're going to need to do it yourself. I can spend very little time on the project at the moment. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 00:51, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@The Squirrel Conspiracy- If you recall, I had already uploaded my own redaction/ covering over the faces that were the subject to the deletion request. This would have passed scrutiny. I also left the text on the posters, because they imparted "in scope" information as well as the text being below COM:ToO.
I will request a revert to my upload previous to yours. Thanks for your response. -- Ooligan (talk) 01:21, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I noticed that this file was a reupload of Special:Undelete/File:Mario series alternate.svg, which you deleted as a copyvio. I think it is below COM:TOO US and COM:TOO Japan, so I am not nominating it for deletion. But I wanted to let you know so you can start a DR if you disagree. Best, —‍Mdaniels5757 (talk • contribs) 18:27, 3 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion requests

[edit]

Hello, I noticed that you requested a couple of photographs: Commons:Deletion requests/File:Poster compitition photo 156 (4812306178).jpg and Commons:Deletion requests/File:Poster of Otji toilets (5200592881).jpg. Both of these files are from Sustainable Sanitation Alliance] which doesn't copyright any of their photographs. Their aim is free use. Krok6kola (talk) 22:12, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Creation of PD-medialabel template

[edit]

Since the discussion to create a separate PD template for simple media labels was archived on 11 April, when should such template be created? JohnCWiesenthal (talk) 04:59, 22 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I think you meant to close this as deleted, not kept - and some of the files didn't get deleted, probably because of the strange characters in the filenames. Omphalographer (talk) 03:40, 28 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed. Thanks. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 03:42, 28 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

RFR

[edit]

Hello The Squirrel Conspiracy, thank you for your message on RFR. In Turkish Wikipedia, most of the times, we require to make a request from the user, or nomination from another user to give patroller rights. Because of that, I wrote to RFR. Just now I assigned the rights to Dosseman. Kind regards, Kadı Message 09:40, 28 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Happy to help. Cheers, The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 01:06, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

open question

[edit]

Commons:Categories_for_discussion/2024/05/Category:RED_ƎYE can you reopen this and comment on the open question? Enhancing999 (talk) 20:07, 8 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

"X characters by name"

[edit]

When should this kind of category actually be created? Trade (talk) 22:49, 8 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The categorization guidelines for Commons are kinda wishy-washy, but my general rule is that the more layers of categorization you have in a tree, the more files need to be there to support that much categorization. In the case of redeye, I've already deleted 750 categories for what was never more than a few dozen files. At that point, digging through category after category wasn't helping people find images, it was creating tedium. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 19:05, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I was talking about the categories not related to Red Eye Trade (talk) 13:12, 30 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of article on Serbian Wikipedia

[edit]

Hi, thank you so much for letting us know about the article BoOzy’ OS и Cristal Камен.

I've deleted that article. Instead of starting a discussion for such cases (spam and so on), please place template {{delete}} like {{delete|Reason}}.

You don't need to use Google Translate to translate reasoning in Serbian language, just place your reasoning in English, that's enough and easier. Kizule (talk) 10:25, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 16:15, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

AN/U

[edit]

Would you mind reopening this? I was going to add something following a new incident on the same issue. Or shall I create a new section? (as it says on the closure). -- Enhancing999 (talk) 18:08, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I will not reopen it, and I think you should look long and hard at billinghurst's comment there before deciding if you want to open a new section. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 18:10, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Isn't he writing about the user's conduct in that matter? Enhancing999 (talk) 18:11, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please add a proper conclusion about the user in the thread you closed. Enhancing999 (talk) 18:24, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Can you complete this? It's a bit odd to close a discussion without any clear conclusion. Enhancing999 (talk) 17:27, 23 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It has been closed as "No action needed" from the beginning. Please drop the stick and walk away from the horse. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 17:59, 23 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Some Madrasi biryani for you!

[edit]
I've got a plate of special Madrasi biryani for you!
Thank you for helping me and replying me in this post. As a token of my gratitude, I've brought my delicious Madrasi biryani for you. I'm a Tamilian living in Delhi, by the way. One of my favourite foods is biryani, especially the mutton one. I'm not sure if this biryani has mutton XD, but, I think it's worth sharing it. I hope you like my special biryani.

Also, don't forget to replace File:Seal Nakhon Pathom.png with File:Seal Nakhon Pathom.svg across all English Wikipedia articles. I'm not able to do that because my IP is blocked on the English Wikipedia, and I'd like to do that for me because I want to have that happen! I hope you make that so. I count in you, and, thank you so much! OperationSakura6144 (talk) 09:16, 30 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This image must be deleted

[edit]

Hello @The Squirrel Conspiracy, regarding this image that you reverted to its original version, I wanted to point out that it has also been altered with artificial intelligence. You can notice this in the skin texture, the detail of the eyes, and, more clearly, in the chest tattoo, compared to this other one, which is the original full-body image from which it was cropped. That is why I had marked it for speedy deletion. CarlosEduardoPA (talk) 20:09, 30 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
